About
Cornelia Öberg (b. 1993) is a Swedish artist based in Gothenburg. She is primarily working with textile techniques such as manual hand-tufting and embroidery. Mohair yarn and wool are central materials to her practice, valued for their tactile and emotional qualities and their ability to convey softness, movement and texture. Öbergs work is deeply influenced by folktales and the natural landscape of western Sweden, particularly Bohuslän where she spent much of her upbringing. By using the landscape as both a metaphor and a mirror for human emotional states and experiences, she explores themes of vulnerability, violence, fear and love.
Öberg is currently studying an MFA in Craft at HDK-Valand and she has exhibited her work at galleries such as Konstnärshuset, Konstepidemin, Galleri Axel, and Galleri Thomassen. Her art is represented in both private and public collections.
